For the Love of Poker!
Monday, Jul 21, 2008 at 3:13 PM (Public Entry)
It really amazes me that I can get so wrapped up with Online Poker. Yesterday, I entered a $2.50 tournement and after about 6 hours on line with 2400 of my closest friends I finished 5th.
My 5th place finish netted me about $50 per hour spent. But since most weeks I don't get anywhere near the final table, I guess I should consider myself lucky.
Anyone else out there playing poker online? Comment here.

My Dog is Missing!
Tuesday, Jul 8, 2008 at 1:12 AM (Public Entry)
Hi all,
It's never fun to come home from a long days work to find that your beloved dog Roxie, has made the "Great Escape" from the backyard.
We all love our pets and there is nothing most of us would not do to find them. So it was 2 hours of combing the neighborhood, talking to people, putting up signs. All the time I'm thinking that someone has snatched my mild mannered and lovable beagle. And I'll likely never see her again.
The last thing I did was to call my friends at 24PetWatch.com. It's 8 PM at night and someone actually answered the phone, took my missing doggie report. (Yes my dog does have a microchip). Brenda was quite nice even though I was a bit stress Brenda even gave me some recommendations about other things I could do.
Guess what happened then! Remember I said I posted some signs in the neighborhood? Well, some of the neighbor kids saw the signs and were up for the adventure. I'm on the phone with Brenda at 24PetWatch.com and the door bell rings with a "Roxie" sighting. She running through the woods in an area near my home.
Long Story Short
We got Roxie back, she was glad to see a familiar face, and get some food. The two neighbor kids are richer for their efforts, and I can try to remember all the things I was suppose to do when I got home.
Moral of the story, the best and fastest way to getting the help you need is usually right around the corner. Find the local people in your community to do what they are best at and reward them for their efforts.
I built GetLocalHelp.com in the hopes that I can harness some of that local energy in a way that people can take advantage of it. I have a long way to go, but I know that bringing local communities together can only help make life better for everyone.
Have fun!
